I try to paint every day. As a practice, for improvement, perhaps its my version of meditation.
Lately I’ve been experimenting with different colors. I’ve always had a hard time with green as the focal point of a composition. It’s a great accent color but even then I rarely reach for it. My method of working is to grab whatever is at hand and start making marks. Traditionally, if I think about it too much I get in my own way. So deliberately starting out with a specific color is a challenge for me. Out of five paintings, these three felt like the best work. I think I’ll begin limiting myself to specific colors when I start my sketching, perhaps put away all the other options and force myself to work outside of my comfort zone.
