The Center
The Center is an abstract watercolor painting organized around an expansive field of untouched paper. Broad passages of muted burgundy, blue-gray, coral, yellow, and orange move around its edges, forming an irregular enclosure while leaving the center almost entirely open. Translucent washes overlap, pool, and dissolve into one another, while narrow breaks of white paper interrupt the surrounding color. The contrast between the concentrated perimeter and quiet central space gives the composition both tension and openness.
