The Question
The Question is a color field painting in which translucent layers of blue, violet, rose, sienna, and green drift into and through one another. Broad areas of softened color are interrupted by luminous pale passages and concentrated ochre marks, creating shifts between atmosphere and definition. Painted on smooth linen, the thin applications of acrylic allow the woven surface to remain visible beneath the color, giving the painting a sense of depth without obscuring the material beneath it.
The question is sometimes more important than the answer.
Acrylic on linen · 30 × 40 in. · Raw maple strip frame
