Broad rust-red forms rise along either side of the composition, enclosing a more diffuse interior of mottled greens, gray, and traces of violet and yellow. Within this protected central space, color breaks into smaller marks and translucent passages, creating a contrast between the weight of the surrounding forms and the quieter, shifting activity held between them.
